Nature data has become the new focal area under Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting, with the establishment of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. Water, as a subset of nature data, can be described as a golden thread, measuring the impact of environmental change. Quality data is a central theme that will provide the basis for analytics to support not only the policy maker, in their role as a rule maker for the benefit of society, but also the investor, that must be able to understand the risks as well as monitor the outcomes and returns of their investment.
In keeping with the naming convention of labs, introduced in the Montreal COP 15 conference in 2022, we have established a Water Finance Lab to explore the data component of the subject water, under the emerging topic of nature disclosures.
